They got out there to their spot not too long ago and already have round one of Bluefin tuna. 18 Bluefin tuna and 6 yellowtail, in the 30 lb range, on deck, off to a really nice start! The weather is much nicer than predicted, a little rolly but not too bad. The fly line setup is getting it done 25, 30 lb test. Mike checked in from the Tribute out of San Diego. Pretty good yellowtail fishing today for the grade. They are very very nice grade fish. We started at the island and had a dozen fish for the morning, then went offshore and fished a kelp patty and scraped 9 more. The fish are up to 30 pounds maybe a bit bigger. We legitimately had a guy get spooked by a yellowtail on our first stop even with braid! Really nice grade healthy fish to say the least. Hopefully we can find some more of these.
